The course “Accident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis” is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Understanding the root causes of accidents is crucial for preventing their recurrence, improving safety practices, and creating a safer work environment.
Throughout the course, students will learn systematic approaches to accident investigation, including gathering information, interviewing witnesses, examining physical evidence, and analyzing relevant data. They will gain an understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements surrounding incident reporting and investigation, as well as the importance of maintaining accurate records.
Students will also explore various incident investigation techniques, including the use of incident investigation models and methodologies. They will learn how to identify immediate and underlying causes of accidents, considering factors such as human factors, equipment failure, organizational factors, and environmental conditions.
